[Public] Journal Entry: Introduction: Daniel Jackson

Hi, everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Daniel Jackson. I'm what you could call a New York native, although I've only been living here permanently for the last few years. Before that, I spent most of my life in and around archaeological digs throughout the world, though my parents' specific expertise was in the Old Kingdom era of Egyptian history. Think pyramids.

I'm in my sophomore year of high school, though from what I've heard, this school doesn't necessarily have 'grade levels'. At least not how most American schools seem to.

If anyone is interested in history, anthropology, archaeology, or linguistics, I've also got a Tumblr [link] that I update pretty regularly.

Hey, look at you! A post that doesn't have to do with powers. This, I can get behind. I'm Clint. Or Barton. Or Hawkeye. Anyone of those'll do. The only traveling I've done's been around the US, and not because of bone hunting, but I think that might be just as cool. Sounds exciting, you know? The pyramids and all. Did you go to the top? I saw a show on TV that said they used to be capped with gold.

I don't really have a grade here. Like you said, not a normal school. History's cool, though. I think it's the stories that really get my attention. Maybe you can share sometime... or we can trade.

The pyrimidion (the capstone) of Khufu's pyramid was said to be plated it gold, but there's no physical evidence that proves it. In fact, the entire thing is missing. Still, there is some contextual evidence in the pyramid complex of Sahure that says it might have been gold.

I'd say the U.S. is still exciting. There's such a variety of people here and the history here is just as rich as any other place.

Have you had a tour of the place yet? It's big enough that I had to have someone show me around my first time here.

Cecil offered to show me around, but I suspect I'm going to spend most of my time questioning him about where he grew up. I thought this school was unusual, but the one he went to before this seems even more different than this one does to me.

Yeah, there's a lot of that goes on around here. Swing by the archery range sometime, though. I'll give you a crash course in what I know.

Kid if I gave you a crash course in archery, it'd take all month. I meant the school. Unless you're particular keen on bows, which, hey, who could blame you?

Huh. The history stuff's pretty cool I guess. I never knew most of that. I kind of take issue with some of it, but it makes for a good video? Maybe get people interested in the trickier shit. It's more fun to go see it live, if you ask me - get them to go to the sideshows again.

What do you take issue with? And sideshows? Like in carnivals?

Carnivals, circus acts, yeah. And I dunno. If you think some of that is hard, you should see what I can do. ;D
