:-( his powers make his scent fade. I tracked him, and then he disappeared at the last minute. but when he talks to you you can find him

It's not visual. He makes you not find him even when you were tracking him. He disappears when you get too close, until he calls put. When you focus on him you can find him. He has a very nice voice. Nice boy
