Written on the same flowery stationary as last time, in the same perfect cursive.
Dear Vance,
You know, I never thought about how a letter can be kept; that is a very good reason to write! I'll do it at least once a week. Is there anything I can send you with my letters that would be fun for you? Books or puzzles--surely that must be allowed? Do you take classes? What is it like?
It's funny to think of anyone finding me grown-up, but then, when I look back, I've changed a lot in the last year and a half. I have grown up a lot. I went from being terrified--the home I came from was not a good one--to having a little confidence. (Which is getting rid of the darkness, as you say. It is still there, but easier to hold off.) From being close-minded--I fought with my brother once about his orientation--to opening my own heart to love. Relatively grown up, then, yes. But I think in some ways, children like us are always older than our years. When you return, no doubt you will be even moreso; I pray in a good way, and I think it will be.
I don't think you need to explain yourself to anyone, but I understand feeling that way. However, if you do want to talk about it, you can talk to me. I do think that I understand. I understand guilt too well.
I told Sunspot you said hi, and he returns the sentiment. You are very missed.
Love,
Aurora
