Hello all,
Yep, I'm alive (partly thanks to our wonderful Faiza) and feeling much better. Thanks for the messages etc that were sent and many apologies for scaring so many of you. Side note, parvo can effect all kinds of canine including wolves so someone make sure Bigby gets vaccination to (looking at you Pyro!).
Happier news, I've adopted! Puppy, not baby you'll be relieved to here. Jay arranged for me to adopt one of my fellow patients as a surprise and the three of us will be back in New York as soon as the vets have issues the doggy passport. Now marvel at the cuteness of my baby!!

This is Bowie. He's perfect and yes you've all probably received about 57 pics already. Sorry not sorry.

Hi all!
Am working London Fashion week next weekend so anyone with Fashion interest, art, or just curious make yourself known to me here or in person and you can hope on the plane (it's the private one, image inducer users may like to know) and I can sort tickets and accommodation!
Leaving after classes on Friday, I'll organise the time for the minibus (if one is needed) for those who want to come, and returning Monday evening.
If any aren't on the forum, let them know! There's no charge for this or strings attached, I like sharing as many privileges I get as I can :D

Since it's almost time to break in the new place, in honor of my impending maturity (hah) I am throwing a Nerd Party in the SI labs on the 30th and all nerds are welcome to come screw around*. Will we create cold fusion? Perpetual motion? A drinking bird toy? Who knows! Come play.
*There will also be stuff set up for any non-nerds who want to tag along (a couple consoles and the like) but I don't want to hear any whining about boredom.

[Forum]: New Issue + Call For Pieces
Feb. 17th, 2015 02:25 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Issue #3 is go. Check out Cal's new column, Faiza hooking Sirius up with some great stuff for his Dear Abby, and Felix and Jay's Mega-killer features. Also, an end to John's detective story, if you were following from last week.
Oh yeah and me talking about skincare and makeup. You all would be shocked at the number of questions I get on the subject, seriously. It's hard work being so fabulous.
But seriously, the next issue will be in the beginning of March, and it's going to be a different animal. Still calling for ANY AND ALL tales of 'growing up mutant'--struggles, triumphs, dangers, happinesses, whatever you have on the subject. There's still time, so talk to me about your ideas and we'll set something up.

Today in the history of my people: we are made famous as creepy messengers that make morose poets even more morose. "The Raven" was published 170 years ago today.
It's a proud day. Be sure to offer any ravens you know perhaps a cracker or perhaps a tasty egg, and a nice head rub would not go awry either?

#2 is live. Check out the new columns, because they're off the chain. More to come next time!
Next issue is gonna be standard after all, so if you have stuff for me, hit me. It'll be sometime before mid-Feb, probably. "Growing Up Mutant" issue will be #4, all serious business, all columns either focused on that topic or on hold for a few weeks. Let me know if you've got something for that one, too.
Also, we need more not-male voices kicking up in here so... help?

Who We Are
X-Factor Investigations is a paranormal investigation business started by me, Damon Salvatore. Yes, the rumors you've heard are true. Deal with it and move on.
While the public basically sees X-Factor as a hyped up ghost hunting organization, we do a lot more than that. We look into the supernatural cases that Xavier passes up, whether it has to do with mutants, witchcraft, monster sightings, or hauntings. A lot of mutants are uniquely capable of dealing with things that are, let's be honest, creepy as fuck.
These days, we're finding ourselves with a lot more jobs and a lot less time, so I find myself in need of a few good graduates to lend a hand. Hell, you don't even have to have graduated. What do I care?
Job Description
We're looking for mediums, empaths, telepaths, psychometrists, trackers, and people who can sense the supernatural, whether that's mutants or ghosts. Powers aside, anyone interested in or having knowledge of the arcane or cryptozoology, or people with investigative abilities. Anyone with experience with experimental tech, too. We could use more gadgets. Gadgets are helpful.
Job Requirements
Most of the job requirements are already targeted at this forum. You must be a mutant. You must tolerate mutants. You must be able to keep your mouth shut about X-Factor being run by mutants because most of us are not out and never will be.
- Must be able to at least devote weekends to investigations, which can sometimes last most of the night.
- Must be able to stay calm under pressure.
- Expect long hours of really boring shit only to experience five minutes of your life that you'll never really be able to explain. No, seriously. I had a house try to eat me about six months back.
- Must be able to suck it up and deal with me as a boss.
- Must be able to tolerate nicknames.
How to Apply
If you feel like you're interested and meet the requirements (but let's be honest, I'm desperate or I wouldn't be posting here) then post a reply here or email dsalvatore@xfactorinvestigations.com. An interview is required. Bribes of bourbon are acceptable.

We are go on SHIFT #1. Read, comment, spread the word. And never fear, JARVIS is modding the comments sections so there will be a zero-tolerance policy for abusive bullshit. Plus JARVIS gets to sass someone other than me for a while.
Thanks to everyone who helped out. This is huge. Still looking for more for all the other issues. Don't be shy.
Also, anyone have podcast experience? I have an idea, but zero patience to do it myself, as usual. ETA2: Probably sorted for now, thanks!
ETA: Forgot to mention, looks like #3 is gonna be a special issue focusing on serious issues in re growing up mutant. That'll be next month sometime. Got any thoughts, hit me.

Happy New Year, everyone.
Those of you who keep tabs on X-statiX will have noticed that Alice--going by her Jenna Malone Alias--has recently been added to the roster of official X-statiX staff on the site.
While I'm out of town this week--starting a few days back, but for the moment an open-ended sojourn of a week or two--Alice will be holding down the fort for X-statiX, so feel free to come to her with any questions or concerns. If she can't get you what you need, she'll contact me or put it in a queue if it can wait for when I get back, but I have every faith that she can handle whatever pops up.
Thanks, Alice!
♥ Lydia
PS: I could use some more administrative help--on or off the record--once I talk to the headmasters about some potential office space. Let me know if you're interested when I get back. ETA: got someone, thank you!

[Forum]: SHIFT - Call for Articles!
Dec. 12th, 2014 02:50 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Okay so the latest on the "Pietro's big mouth" saga is this:
I've been doing a lot of research and study on web publishing (I've read like hundreds of books in the last week and a half, srsly) and some advice from Actual Business Knowledge People (hi Tony still my hero), I've decided to do a thing. It's gonna be called SHIFT: THE FAST AND LOUD MUTANT MAG, and it's all about--you guessed it, mutants. News, articles, op-ed, editorials, by mutants for mutants.
What I need is content. The news is the news--I can handle that with a daily rundown pretty easily, since I'm not looking to re-report what's already been said. What I need are...
-Opinion pieces on mutant issues like politics, social justice, sport, outreach, community, entertainment, and news items--whatever. Just keep intersectionality in mind bc it's v. important here.
-Informative essays on science, history, fashion, politics, whatever your area of expertise is. If you're a mutant, your angle on it has a place here.
-Personal pieces on issues you've faced as a mutant. Growing up, going to school, dating, trying to keep yourself fed, dealing with family, dealing with powers. (Especially looking for the viewpoint of those with physical mutations and minority group PoVs, but all are obviously welcome.) I mean these can be funny, serious, whatever, just stuff people can relate to. Not really looking for gossip columns, but if there's gossip out there about YOU, totally feel free to talk about that. That'd be hilarious.
-Fiction, art, music--whatever it is, if you're a mutant and you make it (esp if it's about mutants tho that's not a prereq), give it to me. Either for a signal boost or some kind of feature. There will be a regular column about mutant-created art eventually, I hope.
-Interviews. These should probably be discussed with me beforehand, but sometimes there will be non-mutants who have important stuff to say--whether they're political types, scientific figures, doctors, lawyers, CEOs, whatever. A mutant should be conducting an interview, in that case, to be sure we keep hold of our own narrative. Got an idea? Hit me.
-----
Why should you do this with me?
-I'll pay you. No, really, I have some advertisers lined up--all personally vetted for ethical purposes--and I'm hoping for more. So I can promise you a token payment upon publication. Talk to me, we'll work something out.
-I'm actually studying for this. Apart from all that reading, I actually got my application into SUNY to do communication and media studies. So I'm not just planning on winging it. Also I read really fast. Maybe I mentioned that. I can learn things.
-Money + Education = Profit?
-Mutant voices advocating for mutants. Enough said.
-If you don't do it I'll have to do it all and no one wants that. Even I know this, yes.
-----
Okay so who should do this?
Basically anyone who's a mutant and out. I don't think anonymous or pseudonymous things are going to fly at first, though the latter might work out later as things evolve. I hope so anyhow. Not out now, but planning to be? We can put something in the queue!
But just so you know I am gonna edit the shit out of things and I'm a grammar freak--and I'm gonna ask Ms. Jones to help while I find my feet.
Okay that's all thanks for reading if you didn't just TL;DR that whole thing. Not that I'd blame you. Slowpokes (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧ Any questions you know where to find me.
Hoping to start this up in the new year so get writing ♥

Okay guys so my social media is still getting crazy amounts of followers and I'm getting a lot of super weird questions in my ask box. And finding a lot of super weird stuff with people trying to make things up about me. So I figured the best way to maintain some illusion of control was to actually answer a bunch of them or just say I wasn't gonna. I got Wanda to vet these (she face-palmed but still), but if you guys have other stuff you think I should put on there, let me know.
You'll all be relieved to know like no one has asked about Xavier's or even where I used to go to school, which means everyone has been predictably cool at Empire Records about it + around town. Also that Tessa probably did a lot to nuke my existence from town >.> THANKS TESSA.
Anyhow here's the thing, let me know if I should add stuff or whatever.

PS HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GOOD THANKSGIVING.
PS2 yes I changed my sn bc fastlove4rent just seemed like a bad idea now >.>

I really want to go to college, but first I have to take the ACT. I'm less concerned about the test itself than about what name to even put on it. It's so complicated but I'll try to summarize.
Right now my real name isn't something I want to be associated with. When I turn 18 and I'm not a minor, I think I'll feel differently. Until then I have a different identity (which I adore), but I feel like when I'm 18 and starting my real life, I'll want to use my real name. (Big Sister, I hope you understand.)
I passionately do not want to write my real name on anything official until I'm safely 18. It's so complicated. Has anyone else had to figure out something like this?

One thing - does anyone else think the font on the ToS page was a little small? But I dunno, I haven't slept in a day or so (has anyone watched the Blacklist??? OMG new obsession!), so my eyes are a little shot.
