I finally got Simon to talk to me yesterday. He told me what happened between you, and just what your opinion is of how things stand between us.

Did you know badly he's been twisted up over what you said to him? Do you even care? I've been trying to get him to talk to me about what's been bothering him for weeks now. He wouldn't, of course, because he thinks I need family, and so he has been trying to protect me from what you said. Instead of risking that I would be upset with you, he's been wrestling with the question of his own worth alone all this time. And this is the boy you think isn't good enough to be with me, which I suppose just stands to prove how little you actually know of him.

Or of me for that matter.

If you actually gave a damn about whether or not I was being hurt, you'd have come to me first. But it isn't about me, is it? So why don't you fill me in and we will see how closely what you say matches to my suspicions.
