om_auroraHello, Xaviers! I know many students have plans for the American Thanksgiving coming up in 10 days, but some of us will be remaining at the school. Usually there is a nice dinner here, but Kurt, Luornu, and I have an idea to spread the love this time:
We're going to have a community Thanksgiving dinner at St. Sebastian's! Everyone will be invited from town and surrounding places. Father Murphy says he will publicize it for us with all the local churches and the food pantry, plus many of the clinics, WIC centers, etc.--places that people who might not be able to manage a Thanksgiving for all kinds of reasons might see it.
If you'd be willing to help in any way, please just leave a comment and I'll get back to you with details. We'll need people to help with everyhing: serving, funding, cleaning, cooking (even stirring and sampling--no experience necessary!), greeting, even potentially keeping kids busy with toys so their parents have time to finish their own food :D All you need is to be someone willing to help, and there's a place for you. (I should add: regardless of religion or creed. It is happening at the Fellowship Hall at St. Sebastian's, but that doesn't mean it's for Catholics! That just happens to be the church the organizers frequent.) It's also good opportunity to show that Xavier's cares, that we're part of the community, and that makes it a better place to live and raise a family.
