I told some of you already that Inara was helping me come up with some options for plays to do this spring. We figured something lighter would be fun since last year was srs bzness. Informal survey says we need at least eleven parts, and more would be better. We thought about musicals, but 1. pre-recorded music sucks and we'd pretty much have to and 2. not all of us can sing so it's kinda unfair. Someone feels strongly about this, feel free to argue, since we're living in a democracy. In theory.
Otherwise, email back and vote for one of these and whatever people want the most, that's the one we'll take on. Oh also, if someone else wants to direct whatever we come up with, just tell me and I'm out. I don't have Tessa and her clipboard this year so this could get ugly, but I'll try.
Option 1: You Can't Take it With You. It's hilarious and it won a Pulitzer. Absurd characters everywhere. You will love it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/You_Can't_Take_It_with_You
Option 2: The School for Scandal. Also hilarious, in an 18th century way. We'd have to rewrite some nasty bits for SOCIAL JUSTICE but I got that. Also, apt title is apt. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_School_for_Scandal
Option 3: Clue. There's a really bad musical of it, but Johnny Boy says he'll adapt Lynn's screenplay. Problem is, Mr. Beck is giving me shit about it not having enough merit. If you think this'd be fun, let's stage a coup. Not as many parts, but definitely enough, and come on, it's great. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088930/

Date: 2013-11-06 04:44 pm (UTC)John suggested changing it to 'husband', actually, so instead of a joke, it's genuine relief. You can tell him to do whatever though, that guy's a fuckin weirdo but he's pretty pliable as it turns out.
