Hi guys.
Sorry to email you all out of the blue like this, but...I need help. I'm going to the dance with someone. A boy someone. I don't know what to wear or where to start looking for what to wear and I'm sure you've all noticed I'm sort of hopeless with clothes. You all always look sobeautiful pretty well put together, so I thought you might be the ones to ask. I'm working with a budget, but...any advice you can give me would be a big help. I'll pay back the favor if I can; just tell me what I can do.
Thanks!
Paige

Are you thinking costume, or just something normal?

Normal, I guess. What sort of costume would you wear for a Valentine's dance...?

Well there's a theme for this one, so the option's there. It's for sinners and saints, but it's not necessary.

I...don't think he needs the encouragement. Normal. Definitely normal.

Alright, then let's get to the basics. Do you like to have pencil shaped dresses, or accordion ones? Slimmer fit, or more room to move around in?

The 'accordion' is more practical, I guess. Since it's a dance. Right?

Accordion is way more practical for a dance, yeah. What's your favourite colour? And what length are you most comfortable with?

First and most important, what do you like in a dress?

I don't know, really. The only dresses I own are for church...

Even a favorite color is a staring point.

Are you concerned about the "theme" or would you just like to look striking for your date? Also, if you're working within a budget I have some items in my wardrobe that would very likely fit you, and some some samples that I've never honestly worn because I haven't bothered to take them in. If you like any of them it wouldn't be an issue to adjust to your measurements.

I don't know if I've got it in me to look 'striking', but...I just want to look nice for once. As much as I appreciate the offer, I couldn't take something that's yours if I needed to alter it. Then I couldn't even give it back! But if you do have something I could just borrow... You really don't mind?

I absolutely don't mind. I had some clothing shipped recently when I was searching for a dress for the dance, and I think I now have more material than my closet can handle.

That's really generous of you Betsy. Thank you! Even if nothing fits, maybe seeing your wardrobe can point me in the right direction.

Paige,
Never fear; you're to pretty to be hopeless.
It looks like you're covered, but that shouldn't stop us from having a little party where we go through Betsy's samples.

I can't remember the last time I've had a "girl's night". Why don't we?

Thanks Lydia
(I think?).I'm not really sure what goes into one, but a girls' night does sound fun...

You're welcome--and yes, it was a compliment.
Girls' night requires only one thing: us. Fabulous fashion samples, low fat snacks, and Madonna are all optional, but can only be a good thing. Sounds brilliant.
